Chamber of Commerce Continues Education Series in 2019

In its ongoing series of educational programming, the Montserrat Chamber of Commerce and Industry will host its first event for 2019, on Wednesday, January 23rd, a presentation and discussion on the Labour Code, with Chamber member and local attorney at law Mr. Jean Kelsick.

Many employers, members of the Chamber of Commerce and others, say they find Montserrat’s Labour Code challenging and unfriendly to business development. That’s a problem and the MCCI has taken up the challenge of seeking solutions that would work for the best development of Montserrat, from the points of view of both employers and employees.

Mr. Kelsick, therefore, will speak on the merits and shortcomings of the Labour Code and discuss why it is in need of urgent revision and will entertain questions and comments from the floor.

The Chamber welcomes all employers and employees with an interest in the Labour Code, and extends a special invitation to non-members for this important discussion.

The discussion will take place on Wednesday January 23rd at 5:30 p.m. upstairs the Economy Bakery in Brades.

Copies of the Labour Code can be found online at http://agc.gov.ms/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Labour-Code.pdf and attendees are advised to please look at the document in advance and have it available in hard copy or electronically during the discussion.
