Indemnity Insurance Should Be Mandatory For Businesses, says Trade Unionist
A veteran trade unionist has called for changes to the law that dictates how a person is compensated when injured on the job.
Hylroy Bramble says it should be made mandatory that businesses must have indemnity insurance to cover workers against injury, death, dismemberment, illnesses or diseases.
His comments follow the death of a worker in Guadeloupe who was injured on a construction site in Montserrat.
Mr. Bramble says the workman’s compensation provided by Social Security is hardly enough to cover medical and other expenses.
