Opposition Leader Supports Enquiry Into Future Of Overseas Territories
The Leader of the Opposition has welcomed a United Kingdom parliamentary inquiry into future of the Overseas Territories.
Easton Taylor Farrell says the inquiry would look at important issues such as financing of the OT’s and representation in the United Kingdom.
He says the Opposition here plans to get feedback from the public and make its own submission to the Foreign Affairs Committee.
The Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee says it will be examining how the Foreign Office manages its responsibility to ensure the security and stability of the UK’s 14 Overseas Territories justifies the term inquiry in that respect.
The last inquiry of this kind by the FAC was 11 years ago. That paved the way for the Commission of Inquiry into the Turks and Caicos Islands.
