2018 Queens Birthday Parade Monday

The 92nd birthday of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II will be celebrated with a grand parade on Monday, June 11; which is also a public holiday on Montserrat.

The parade will be held at Salem Park starting at 8:00a.m and will also mark the 120th Anniversary of the Royal Montserrat Defence Force.  A number of uniformed bodies will be on parade, to include the Royal Montserrat Police Service (RMPS), Royal Montserrat Defence Force (RMDF), The Montserrat Secondary School (MSS) Cadet Corp, the Montserrat Fire and Rescue Service and the Montserrat Prison Service.   Other groups listed to participate include the Boys and Girls Brigades, Boys Scouts and Girl Guides, Brownies, Red Cross First Aiders and Path Finders. 

During the parade, seven officers will be awarded medals in honour of their service. One officer from the Royal Montserrat Defence Force will receive a second clasp for over 24 years of service. One officer from the Royal Montserrat Police and Fire Service will receive a second clasp for 30 years of service, four officers will receive a first clasp for 25 years of service and 1 officer will be awarded a Colonial Long Service Medal for 18 years of service.

As customary, the parade will include the inspection of all units by His Excellency the Governor, Mr. Andrew John Pearce, followed by the march past and royal salutes.

This year’s parade will also feature musical accompaniment by the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda band. Twenty-seven band members from the neighbouring island are expected to arrive on Montserrat this weekend.

The public is invited to attend the parade which will start promptly at 8:00a.m. All uniformed bodies are expected to be at the Salem Park no later than 7:40a.m.
