Honourable Premier Denies Playing a Role in the Closure of PIU

The honourable premier Donaldson Romeo has denied that his government closed the operations of the Project Implementation Unit.

Speaking in Parliament, he said the staff ceased work after a review was commissioned into the operations of the Unit.

The PIU was established in 2010 to fast-track government infrastructural projects, and to clear bottle necks in their implementation.

The government was criticized in some circles for allowing its closure in 2015.

However, Premier Romeo pointed out that the PDM administration was not to blame.
