Innovation Days To Highlight Tourism Sector Development

The development of the tourism sector will be one of the highlights during Innovation Days, which began here on Thursday  morning at the Montserrat National Trust.

Discussion would be based mainly around the Tourism strategy of Montserrat and the Montserrat Economic Growth Strategy and Delivery Plan, focusing mainly on the development of the tourism agglomerate sector, development of the "visitor economy” and all aspects of economies linked and developed around the sector.

These include entrepreneurship, development of entrepreneurial innovation eco system, business support, incubators, start-ups, human capacities, education, training and competences building and several relevant EU programmes, agriculture and creative industry.

Innovation Days is a collaborative effort between the Government of Montserrat and OCTA, and will be held at the Montserrat National Trust over several days.

It will look at the linkages between innovation and sustainable development and are intended to assist in enhancing sustainable development through innovation solutions for economic diversification.

The Montserrat Representative in the United Kingdom Janice Panton Mrs. Janice Panton will be one of the featured speakers.

Ms. Panton will give insights into the Association of EU Overseas Countries and Territories and OCTA Innovation, an EU funded project for propelling innovation in the OCTs.

As an introductory speaker, Ms. Panton will highlight her call upon the heads of the governments of the EU Overseas Countries and Territories to embrace Systemic Innovation for the sustainable development of their territories.
