Government of Montserrat Eyes Lucrative Marine Industry
Minister of Communications and Works Paul Lewis says his ministry is making the development of the Montserrat Maritime industry a high priority.
He says in recent times the government has received substantial support through the conflict stability and security fund.
These include the hydrographic survey of the western coastline, and the supply of hydrographic survey equipment, which will be installed on the police patrol vessel as early as May.
Mr. Lewis says this would be closely followed by the delivery of tier one pollution response equipment and training in the near future.
He states that the goal of the wider ministry is to provide a fit for purpose breakwater and berth facility in the near future.
The minister was speaking at the opening of the Red Ensign Group Conference on Tuesday.
He said the conference is evidence that Montserrat intends to make some waves in the maritime sector.
