First Ever Career Week for Primary School Students

In an effort to promote a holistic approach to youth development and empowerment, the Department of Community, Youth and Sports Services will be hosting it’s first ever Primary School’s Career Week here, next week.

Celebrated under Youth Month, the week which will run under the banner “Helping our youth connect to their future” seeks to provide students of the primary schools with relevant information and advice to facilitate informed decisions regarding future career pathways.

Throughout the week September 24th to the 27th, all grades of the three primary schools will be engaged by the various presenters both visually and verbally.

They will host visits from private entities and government departments to include the Royal Montserrat Police Service, Montserrat Fire and Rescue Service, Air Traffic Control, MCWEL’s Mechanic division, Nurses from the Ministry of Health, Extension officers from the Ministry of Agriculture, 4th Dymension and Fly Montserrat.

Youth and Community worker, Ms. Claris Yearwood says, “we saw it fit to raise awareness amongst our primary school students regarding the various career options available. We think it is never too early to stimulate their thinking about the career path they intend to take later on in life.”
