IMPACT Justice Begins Digitization of Montserrat Land Registry Records

Montserrat’s Land Registry Records will soon be available digitally.

This is owed to a collaboration between the Department of Land and Survey’s and the Canadian Government funded Improved Access to Justice in the Caribbean IMPACT Justice Project, which is being facilitated by the University of the West Indies CaveHill Campus .

The project began on Tuesday February 1 and runs through to Saturday the 5th.

Regional Project Director of IMPACT Justice Professor Velma Newton, who is on island overseeing the process says it is hoped that the Montserrat Land Registry will have a digital record of all pertinent land registry records and transactions which will ensure the records’ long term preservation and protection in the event of hurricanes and other natural disasters.
