A Change of Guard as Montserrat’s Governor Departs after Four-year Tenure

Her Majesty the Queen’s Representative here for the past four years has ended his tenure

Andrew Pearce left the island Monday evening March 7th, enroute to the United Kingdom.

His departure was preceded by a ceremonial parade at the John A. Osborne Airport. The process of selecting the next Governor has already taken place and Mrs Sarah Tucker will succeed Mr Pearce.

In the interim, as is customary, the Deputy Governor, Honourable Lyndel Simpson in this season, will assume the position of Acting Governor until the substantive Governor takes up her post late this month of early April.

It is anticipated that Mr Pearce would have worked closely with his successor to ensure a good handover, and hopes that progress continues in the important areas of his work on Montserrat.

Mr Pearce had this to say, just minutes before his departure.
