Premier Meade Pushes for Genuine Free Movement Across OE

Premier, the Honourable Reuben T. Meade has called on the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), to take meaningful action to improve freedom of movement in the sub-region.

Speaking at the 77th meeting of the OECS Authority in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, earlier this week, Mr. Meade said the restrictions on freedom of movement for OECS nationals has been a barrier to creating a single economic space.

Addressing the meeting via video link he also stated that sea travel within the grouping was too complicated and expensive.

Mr. Meade urged colleagues to support the efforts of the OECS Commission which is working on legislation and policies which seek to harmonize the free movement of people regime.
