Montserrat Tourism Authority Invites Design Proposals for "I LOVE MONTSERRAT" Sign

The Montserrat Tourism Authority (MTA) is inviting proposals from creative designers and artists to develop and produce a visually engaging, Instagram-ready sign featuring the phrase "I LOVE MONTSERRAT". This sign will serve as a prominent landmark and an interactive photo opportunity, significantly enhancing Montserrat's promotion through social media. 

Objective 

The primary goal of this project is to create an iconic photo spot for both visitors and residents. The sign should capture the unique essence, rich culture, stunning natural beauty, and warm spirit of Montserrat, inspiring individuals to share their experiences and memories online. 

Scope of Work 

We are seeking proposals for a design that is bold, eye-catching, and suitable for an outdoor public space. The proposed sign should be a 3D structure which may incorporate mural paintings on some of the lettering. 

Key requirements include: 

• Dimensions: 

  • Height: Approximately 3–4 feet (ensuring visibility of letters/structure in photos). 

  • Length: Approximately 10–12 feet (to accommodate the full phrase). The length of the design should fit within a camera frame, so consideration should be given to the layout of the design.  

  • Note: Final dimensions may be adjusted based on the proposed location and materials, but your proposal must clearly outline all proposed sizes. 

• Durability and Aesthetics: The design must be durable, weather-resistant, and incorporate vibrant colors, local symbolism, and/or Montserrat's distinctive cultural elements.

• Interactive Features: We strongly encourage the inclusion of interactive or photo-friendly elements. Examples include the heart-shaped symbol to replace "LOVE," the outline of Montserrat, or iconic silhouettes such as the Soufrière Hills Volcano, a masquerader, or the national bird. 

Submission Requirements 

Interested parties are requested to submit comprehensive proposals that include the following: 

• Conceptual Design(s): Provide detailed sketches, mockups, or digital renderings of your proposed sign. 

• Design Statement: A brief explanation outlining the inspiration behind your design and the specific elements incorporated. 

• Proposed Materials and Dimensions: Clearly specify the materials required and the precise dimensions of your proposed sign. 

• Estimated Timeline and Budget: If submission is for design and construct, provide a detailed breakdown of the estimated time required for production and installation, along with a comprehensive budget. 

• Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing similar design or installation work. 

Intellectual Property and Design Flexibility 

Upon selection, the MTA will own all intellectual property rights pertaining to the chosen design. The selected designer must be flexible and willing to collaborate with the MTA to make any necessary design adjustments or tweaks. This requirement is in accordance with the principles of partnership and mutual agreement, ensuring that the final design aligns with the MTA's strategic objectives and the laws of Montserrat. 

Deadline for Submissions 

All proposals must be received no later than Friday, July 11, 2025.
