Montserratian Doctor to be Recognized by Emerald Creative Vibes

A noted Montserrat-born medical doctor in the United States is one of several outstanding persons to be recognized by Emerald Creative Vibes.

Dr. Icilma Fergus Rowe will receive an appreciation award from the Bronx-based Montserrat organization on Sunday October 28th. 

She is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of Cardiovascular Disparities at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.

Dr. Fergus Rowe has authored numerous articles related to heart disease in peer-reviewed journals, including her contribution to the book entitled “Cardiovascular Disease in Ethnic Minorities.” 

Her current clinical and research interests involve cardiovascular disparities, Hypertension, Heart Failure, and heart disease in women. 

Dr. Fergus Rowe is the founder and director of the series of Healthy Hearts projects including Montserrat Healthy Hearts. 

She has embarked on several medical mission visits to Montserrat since 2011, and continues to be very active in communities where healthcare disparities are present.

Other awardees include Huldah Bramble, a Montserrat- born Professor of Accounting at Iona College, fellow Montserratians Margaret Dublin White, a retired New York City Transport worker, and Janice Galloway, an Executive Member of the Montserrat Aspirers Club in Boston.

Another awardee is Trinidadian entrepreneur Andre Mitchel.

The guest of honour for the evening is former Deputy Governor Alric “Jim” Taylor.
