Tourism Official Encourages Sustainable Fishing Practices
The practice of sustainable fishing should be encouraged for fish to continue being a source of food and income in Montserrat.
So says director of Tourism, Rosetta West-Gerald.
Speaking at the Ministry of agriculture-organized Fishing Tournament on Sunday, Mrs West-Gerald noted the importance of responsible fishing.
She explained how climate change has affected the fishing industry and tourism as a whole.
Mrs West-Gerald mentioned the positive economic benefits of nature activities conducted by the Tourism division, listing fishing as one of the main activities and source of economic growth.
The Tourism director also expressed her appreciation to the Ministry of Agriculture and the fishers for holding the fishing tournament.
