Montserrat Government UK Office Supports New Caribbean-Inspired Book on Parenthood

A Montserratian author in the diaspora has launched a book on parenting through the Caribbean lens.

Edward and Josi Flood debuted a book entitled, “Sometimes It’s Funny: Adventures in Parenthood”, in London on May 3.

The book offers a heartwarming and humorous look at early parenthood through a distinctly Caribbean lens.

Told from both Edward and his wife Josi’s perspectives, the story explores the ups and downs of raising a child in inner-city London and the emotional rollercoaster of becoming new parents.

Drawing on their Saint Lucian and Montserratian roots, the couple reflect on the values, expectations, and cultural traditions that have shaped their parenting journey.

The Montserrat UK Office, in a press release, says the book is a meaningful addition to Caribbean literature and British family narratives, and encourages members of the Montserratian community to support the publication.

Edward and Josi Flood, who were both raised in the Caribbean and now live in London with their son Jahdiel, say the book is not a parenting manual but a relatable story of love, growth, and cultural identity.
