Montserrat Representatives Participate in UNICEF Mental Health Awareness Activity Book
UNICEF is preparing to launch the second volume of its Young Caribbean Minds activity book, a resource developed by 40 young people across 21 Caribbean countries, including Montserrat.
The book is designed to raise awareness among young people about climate change and its connection to mental health.
Sandrae Thomas is one of three youth representatives from Montserrat who participated in the project.

The other representatives include Narissa Farrell-Bramble and Nianna St Claire, who were also able to contribute to the book.
Young Caribbean Minds includes interactive activities such as coloring pages and exercises that help young readers understand the impact of climate change while promoting mental health awareness.
The book also includes a regional directory of mental health resources, with contact details specific to each country—including Montserrat’s mental health services.
The resource is available in both physical and digital formats, and young people can register online for a chance to win a free copy.
Sandrae has also promoted the initiative by engaging with Montserrat government officials, including the Minister of Education, the Minister for Youth, the Parliamentary Secretary, and the Press Secretary. Feedback from these meetings was shared with UNICEF as part of the project’s development.
There are hopes that the book will eventually be made available in local schools, potentially by the upcoming academic year. In the meantime, students, educators, and parents can access it online at youngcaribbeanminds.com.
