Educators Urged to Embrace ‘Wonder’ in Early Learning
Educators and policymakers were encouraged, on Tuesday, to allow children to embrace “wonder” as a part of deeper learning.
Various stakeholders gathered at the Montserrat Community College for the opening of the second annual Teecha Early Childhood Conference, held under the theme “Young Children’s Lives Matter.”
Co-founder Dr. Sheron Burns joined Canadian educator and key-note speaker, Beth Critchley Charlton, in emphasizing the importance of collaboration and intentional learning environments.
Dr. Burns reminded attendees of their shared responsibility to protect, provide for, and include young children.
She highlighted the vital role adults play in ensuring children are safe, nurtured, and given opportunities to participate in their communities.

Beth Critchley Charlton invited participants to embrace “wondering” as a tool for deeper learning, adding that fostering curiosity leads to stronger language development and strategic thinking.
She encouraged attendees to create space for silent reflection and meaningful conversation in early learning settings.
