Montserrat represented at 2025 Global Gender Summit

Montserrat was represented at the 2025 Global Gender Summit held from the 21st to 23rd of May, 2025.

Miss Alverna Weekes, Budget Director within the Ministry of Finance and Economic Management, Mrs. Camille Thomas-Gerald, Permanent Secretary within the Ministry of Health, and Mr. Barry Mahabir, Principal Environment Officer attended the occasion, which was hosted by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) in Barbados.

The summit was organized by the Multilateral Development Bank (MDB) Working Group on Gender (MDB-WGG).

Sector leaders, experts, policy makers, development practitioners, and key stake holders were brought together to collaborate on one platform where experiences and ideas regarding gender equality were shared.

Presentations and discussions centered around “Equality in Action: Driving a Resilient Future through Innovative Financing, Inclusivity and Bold Leadership”.

Centred on the theme “Equality in Action,” the Summit focused on three key areas: Finance, Climate, and Leadership.

Discussions explored actions to advance gender equality, increasing access to finance for women-owned micro, small, ensuring gender equality is at the heart of climate action, strengthening public sector gender policies, and dismantling barriers to women’s leadership.
