Government of Montserrat Welcomes Funding for Renewable Energy Transition

Acting Premier and Minister for Energy, Veronica Dorsette-Hector, has welcomed the UK Government’s £5.9 million funding package to support Montserrat’s green energy transition, describing it as a timely and vital step forward.

Honourable Dorsette-Hector said that this support comes at a crucial time as the government accelerate efforts to build a resilient, sustainable, and economically viable energy sector.

She added that the ultimate goal is energy independence through harnessing local renewable resources, especially geothermal and solar.

The Energy minister noted that this assistance strengthens Montserrat’s energy governance and reduces reliance on costly fossil fuel imports.

She thanked UK Climate Minister and the UK Government for their continued partnership, saying the announcement affirms confidence in Montserrat’s vision.
